This second test hole was placed on a slightly elevated bench located in the center portion of the lot. The purpose in completing this second boring was to identify soil conditions and to verify the present level of the perched ground water table at this location. This investigation was performed in accordance with your request of March 19, 1975, and those procedures outlined in a letter dated December 19, 1974 by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area Borough Department of Environmental Quality. The second test hole was put down within the center area of Lot 3 for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil con- ditions for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accom- plished with an auger type drilling rig and the test hole was extended to a total depth of 20 feet below ground surface. Samples were recovered from various depths in the test hole and retained for grain size analysis. The results of the sample analysis are enclosed. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included on Drawing A-02. A perched groundwater table was encountered in the test hole at a depth of 10 feet below existing ground surface. We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service to you. Should you have any questions with regard to the above, please do not hesitate to contact us. Due to the high nitrite levels found recently in the water analysis this plug was done to better seal the well from any contaminates due to animal feces or lawn fertilizer reaching the well water. The existing soil around the well was also raised to prevent any surface water from reaching the casing. Sincerely Michael N.
