ARM Septic Services, LLC has checked the monitoring tubes in the drainfield on 3/1/2019 and found them to be dry. In order to simplify the overall operation and maintenance of the system, we are proposing that this unit be permanently configured as a CAT I I system. Our justifications are as follows: The existing home has 4 bedrooms (600 gpd). The drainfield is a bed type system with an absorption area of 300 square feet. There is 6 foot of MOA approved sand between the drainrock and the insitu soil. The insitu soil below the sand filter has percolation rate of 60 minutes per inch. Given this percolation rate, a 2.0 gpd/sq.ft. application rate is required for Cat III effluent and a 1.0 gpd/sq.ft. application rate is required for Cat II effluent. The application rate for the receiving sand (for CAT II effluent) is 4 gpd/sq.ft, which dictates a drainfield size of 150 sq.ft. After the effluent passes through the 6 feet of MOA approved sand it should easily meet Cat III effluent quality levels regarding BOD, TSS, and Fecal Coliform levels, so the allow allowable application rate to the insitu soil should be 2.0 gpd/sq.ft Based upon the facts presented, it is our assertion that the 300 sq.ft. drainfield is adequate in size and design (6 feet of receiving sand for treatment prior to reaching insitu soil) so as to receive CAT II effluent from a 4 -bedroom residence (600 gpd). At this time, we request that your department approve a CAT II configuration be used at the referenced property, Upon your concurrence, we will have ARM Septic Service, LLC, either leave the Jandy valve actuator in the discharge position; or have them completely remove the internal actuator valve basin. Rob Campbell Glacier View Heights, B1, L8 Mr. Crewdson, Prior to the excavation o~ the drain~ield, during the system layout, a confirmation test hole was excavated by Tweed Excavation and inspected by GEG employee Rob Campbell. The location o~ the test hole was roughly 40' downhill +rom the lower edge o~ the drain~ield, as directed in the special provisions o~ the sewer permit. The test hole was roughly 8' deep, consisting oT several Teet oT organics before transitioning to a GM type silty gravel soil ~or the remainder oT the TH depth. The soil did not appear to be impermeable. A percolation test was not perTormed. Mr. Campbell contacted the MOA onsite oTTice and talked to 3eft Poet about his ~indings and wanted to know iT the MOA wanted to come out and look at the test hole. Mr. Poet conveyed that he did not need to look at the test hole. Based upon our ~indings in this confirmation test hole, it is reasonable to believe that all drain~ield e~luent will be absorbed into the underlying soils and not daylight out o~ the ground downhill Trom the drain~ield site. We are proposing to install a category III advanced wastewater system which will include; a new 1500 gallon S.T.E.P tank with Quanics controls/floats, a 650 Aerocell unit and a bed type drainfield. Two test holes were excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the 3 0 foot radius of test hole #2. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing the average topography below the drainfield is relatively flat. There is a portion of terrain approximately 15 feet south of the proposed bed that transition into a 25% for approximately 16 feet. The terrain then settles out into a slight 5% slope. In short, there are no slope concerns. We are unaware ofl~ny adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.
