The house will be served by a private septic system and public water (AWVVU). We are proposing to install a new 1,000 gallon septic tank and a deep trench type drainfield (per the request of the owner the drainfield is sized for six (6) bedrooms). Two testholes were excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of testhole #2. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached 2004 logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater~ monitoring, and the percolation test results. The soil percolated at faster than a minute an inch and was visual classified as a GP/SP. A grab sample of the material was collected and shown to Jay Crewdson, P.E. in order to receive a verbal approval to use the in-situ soil as a sand filter. He requested that we provide justification as for why the insitu soil will serve as a sand filter. Justifications for allowing the in-situ soil to be used as the sand filter are as follows; · There is enough sand in the material to fill the pore spaces between the gravel. · It appears that the soil is mainly sand. · Per neighboring driller logs the soil strata in the area consist of mainly silty sand and clay and some gravel 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfieid specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns. 4.
