We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for a new septic system to accommodate the four-bedroom home. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the proposed septic system. A new absorption trench will be constructed in accordance with Municipal Code. Also identified on the plans are the locations of the existing Class A Well that serves the subdivision and the water main in Endicott Street. The surface area of the lot is very small and only a small segment is available for the septic system due to the presence of the 200' protective radius from the Class A Well. Drainage arrows are shown indicating the current drainage patterns. The drainage patterns will be maintained after construction. The test hole placed on the lot indicated Silty Gravel with Sand and Silt (GM/SM) the entire depth. The percolation rate was determined to be less than 5 minutes per inch. We have designed the new trench with an application rate of 1.2 gallons per date per square foot. No groundwater was found in the test hole and none developed during the monitoring period. We are proposing to place a 36' long trench by 3' wide with a 7' effective depth. The total depth of the system will be 11' with the distribution line at 4' below the existing surface. A lot line waiver will be required as the trench will be within 6' of the east lot line and 2' from the west lot line. The absorption trench must be a minimum of 10' from the water main in Endicott Street and the entire septic system must be 200' from the Class A Well serving the subdivision The ground surface on the lot is virtually flat in the area of the proposed absorption trench. The trench will be placed parallel to the contours of the ground as much as Lot 7A, Block 3, Seacliff September 17, 2015 Page Two possible and in conformance with design criteria. A minimum of 100' will be maintained between all components of the septic system and the existing well and from any surface water in the area. If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements apply: The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. Box 196650 Anchorage, AK 99519-6650 Subject: Lot 7A, Block 3, Seacliff Subdivision Separation Distance Waiver Absorption Trench to Lot Line Dear On Site Services Engineer: Lot 7A, Block 3, Seacliff Subdivision has limited surface area for placement of a home and a septic system. The area is further limited by the close proximity of the Class A Well serving the area. A suitable area has been located at the north end of the lot, but the proposed absorption trench must be constructed within 6' of the eastern lot line and 2' from the western lot line. Soils in the area are well graded gravel with sand which is excellent for the absorption of septic effluent. All absorption is expected to be downward with little or no migration. The trench does not impact the property to the west as it is more than 50' from the septic system on this lot.
