Pannone, Principal Registered Professional Engineer E-mail: steve@panengak.com 1_6 February 2016 Subject: SEACLIFF B1 L20 Septic System Upgrade Permit Request Design Narrative This is a design narrative for a permit to install an upgrade septic system to be issued for this property. The proposed system will serve a proposed three-bedroom (3) house. Currently the lot is undeveloped. This lot and the surrounding lots are served by a Class "A" community well located to the east of the subject property. This Class "A" Well is over 200' from the septic system. The owner desires to install a four-bedroom (4 BR) system. Soils. One test hole was performed on this lot by PES in February of 2016, and groundwater was monitored for at least seven days. Ground water was not observed to a depth of 16.0' below the surface in the test hole monitor tube after the 7-day monitoring period. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole. Based on the results of the percolation tests, overall soils appearance and the selection of the proposed drain field; an application rate of 1.0 gallons/day/square feet was used for a conventional wastewater system in the area of the test hole. A test hole was performed on the southeastern edge of Lot 19 by S&S Engineering in 1996. The ~oil strata were similar to that found on Lot 20. No ground water was observed to a depth of 16.0' below the surface in the test hole monitor tube after the 7-day monitoring period. A percolation test was run between 10.5' and 11.5'. Based on the results of the percolation tests, overall soils appearance and the selection of the proposed drain field; an application rate of 1.2 gallons/day/square feet was used for a conventional wastewater system in the area of that test hole. Soil Absorption System Design. a. See Sheet;~'ofthe design package. 3. SurfaceWater: There is no surface water within 100 feet Of the proposed septic tank and drein field. The proposed drain field upgrade will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches. 4. Topography: The-existing topography generally slopes from the southwest to the northeast in the area surrounding the septic system at approximately 2-5%. There are no steep slopes within 50' of the proposed drain field. The proposed drain field will ~aintain 50' sbpa~tion all ~teep'slopes. 5. Waivers: We are requesting a waiver for drain field orientation as the field will need to be installed perpendicular to the contours of the lot. Sheet 2 of the design set shows an approximate cross-section of the field as projected to be installed. The bottom of the trench will not encroach on the required Mailing: P.O. Further, should the sand filter encroach upon the SP layer the percolation data from the test hole on Lot 19 shows a potential application rate of 1.2 gallons/day/square foot. With that appl'ication rate there would be no negative effect for the sand filter entering the lower soil strata. The proposed installation is oriented in a similar fashion to ~her systems in the area. 6. Drawing Markings: The Drawings are marked "For MoA Review Only". When written notification that the review is complete and that there are no further comments is received from MoA.On-Site Department, the note will be removed and "Issued for Construction" drawings will be issued.
