Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
The septic tank on the subject is located in the driveway serving the duplex and may be
failing. In addition, the absorption pit is seriously stressed and is also in need of
replacement. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued to construct a new
septic system as shown on the attached Site Plan to serve the 4 bedroom duplex on
the lot. The Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration
of the existing septic system and the location of the new tank and absorption system.
Aisc identified on the plans is the existing well on the lot and those on the adjacent
propedies. No conflicts exist between the existing well and the proposed septic system
on this or the adjacent lots. The existing tank and the existing absorption pit on the lot
will be properly disposed in accordance with Municipal Code.
The test holes placed on the lot indicate silty gravel with some sand in the area of the
new absorption system (GM/ML). The percolation rate was determined to be 4.2
minutes per inch in the zone designated for effluent absorption. Our proposed design
includes the placement of a new 1,250 gallon septic tank along with a 50' long x 5' wide
x 4' effective depth absorption trenches. The total depth of the trenches will be 8' with
the distribution line placed at 4' below the surface. A-f. ..... r .................. ~, ..... to

tank and 3' over the absorption system.
The ground surface on the lot is fairly flat with a minor slope to the southwest in the
area of the septic tank and absorption trench. The trench~ will be constructed parallel
to the contours of the ground surface as much as possible. ~
If the septic system is constructed in accordance with our design the following
statements apply:

the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
The septic system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on
existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
The septic system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on
reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area.
The septic system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on
drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained.
