The proposed system will serve a proposed four-bedroom (4BR) house with a one-bedroom (1BR) ADU, for a total of five bedrooms (5BR). Currently the lot is undeveloped. This lot and the surrounding lots are served by private wells. There are no wells within 100' of this system. Soils. One test hole was performed on this lot by PES in June of 2016, and groundwater was monitored for at least seven days: Ground water was not observed to a depth of 18' below the surface in the test hole monitor tube after the 7-day monitoring period. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole. Based on the results of the percolation tests and overall soils appearance; an application rate of 0.g gallons/day/square feet was used for a conventional wastewater system in the area of the test hole. 2. Soil Absorption System Design, a. See Sheet I of the design package. 3. Surface Water: There is ne surface water within 100 feet of the proposed septic tank and drain field. The proposed drain field upgrade will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches. 4, Topography:The proposed system sits at the top of a small knoll near the proposed house. To one side the slope is approximately 45% and to the other the slope is approximately 12%. See slope waiver request. The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing lots. There are no wells within 100 feet of the proposed septic location. Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 Subject: Hillside North Addition 9, Lot 4 Septic System to Steep Slope Waiver Request Ladies and Gentlemen: I am writing to request a separation distance waiver between the proposed septic system and a slope of greater than 25% to fifteen feet (15'). The soils in this area are typically Hydrologic Soils Group A which contains organics underlain by gravel and sand. PES conducted a percolation test on the proposed lot and foumd a percolation rate of three point five minutes per inch (3.5 mpi). The soil composition and percolation fate confirms the soil classification of HSG A. Due to the nature of and drainage capacity of the soils found in the area (HSG A) the designed infiltration line of 45% for septic system installation on steep slopes should be used instead of the assumed/worst case soil classification infiltration line of 25%. The slopes and soil types enable installation of any conventional system without the system effluent 'daylighting' further down the slope of the hill provided bury depth requirements are met.
