FROM: Traffic Engineer SUBJECT: Proposed Boniface Shopping Cefiter Plan We have reviewed the attached plan relative to driveway locations and street dedication to conform to the Official Street and Highway Plan. The following comments are brought to your attention: All driveways should be widened to a width of thirD-five (35) feet. (The service drive is shown as forty (40) feet). The widening of the driveways to third-five (35) feet will permit a vehicle to enter, one to wait to turn left without blocking the exit and permit a third vehicle to make a right turn onto the abutting street. Should the future street widening plan in- clude islands for left turn storage which would preclude a left turn from any drivew~, the driveway could then be reduced a width of twen~-five (25) feet. Consideration, perhaps, should be given to sixty (60o) degree parking with car stops rather than the ninety (90o) degree parking shown. The nine~ (90o) degree parking is more difficult to perform and has a higher accident record than the flatter six~ (60o) degree. This is particularly true with high turnover parking such as occurs around a groce~ store. ~ - Thomas E.
