Dear Mike:
On August 19, 1983 AECS, Inc. verified the abandonment of the well
located on Lot 1, Block 0, Haugen Subdivision. The casing was filled to
the top with concrete.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact our office.
Thank you.

Attn: Roy
Dear Roy:
At your request on August 18, 1983 I visited Lot 1 & 2
Haugen Subdivision which is owned by Dick Kim. On lot 1 was
a old crib system that you had collapsed the day before on
order from the Health Department. Fifty-three feet from
this old crib is a Class C well. The well lies at
approximately 51 feet from the septic tank or crib on the
Union Station located on the adjacent lot to the east of lot
1. We determined that since this was a Class C well and 150
foot radius would be necessary to protect the well, and that
it would be impossible to get an on-site sewer system on
this lot with the well to continue to be used. I noted that
in Tudor Road there were water valve boxes indicating to me
that public water is available to this lot. Public sewer is
available approximately one. lot to the north of Mr. Kims
lot. I feel that most expedient thing for Mr. Kim to do
would be to abandon the Class C well and pour it full of
concrete up to the static water level then hook up to the
public water system. The test pit that you dug for me later
in the day indicated a very good sandy gravel from 3 to 10.5
feet that I rated at 100 square foot per bedroom. Water was
at 10.5 feet. This would mean that the sewer system could
be put in from 3 to 6.5 foot depth without creating any
problem. As the the house is a double wide modular unit
there shouldn't be any trouble in getting the septic tank
installed in the 3 foot level. Enclosed are the results of
the soils log and schematic sketch of the system. There is
approximately 64.5 feet from fence to fence in the yard that
could be used for a single run.
Mr. Kim asked me the possibility in hooking his station
septic tank onto the same system. Looking the lot over I
believe that it would be impossible to sell the two lots as
individual lots because part of the gasoline tanks for the
store on Lot 2 appears to be over on Lot 1. $o I believe
that if the two lots could be considerated as an integral
unit. I have consulted with the Health Department on this
and there answer is that it would be possible to do this.
We should put a 1000 gallon septic, tank at the rear of the
gas station and it should only serve the stations two
bathrooms and not be connected to any floor drains. There
would be a 1000 gallon tank for the three bedroom home. The
drainfield would be designed for 6 bedrooms. The depth of
gravel would be 3 ft under the pipe and 5 feet wide. The
total depth is 6.5 feet. The length would be 70 feet. An
alternative for Mr. Kim would be to put a 1000 gallon septic

tank and drain field for the station with 35 feet of trench
to the same specifications.
If drainfield for both systems are placed on the same lot
then a maintenance easement needs to be recorded in insure
access in case one lot is sold.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,

Subject: Lot 1 Haugen Subdivision
Cesspool
Per Judge Souter's instructions on 8/16/83, I inspected the mobile home at
lot i Haugen Subdivision to verify that the sewer line was disconnected from
the cesspool. At 10:30 A.M. the line was intact. By 11:00 A.M. the line was
disconnected and capped satisfactorily.
To recap our conversation:
In order to verify the location of all neighboring wetls~ provide this depart-
ment with an engineer's survey of your property and all properties within a
200 foot radius by August 22, 1983. Included in this report will be the number
of dwellings, businesses or connections each well serves. It will also contain
any septic systems or cesspools'within the 200 foot radius.
I have enclosed a list of engineers for your conveniences
The permit 830560 to install a holding tank is hereby revoked pending the
submittal of the engineer's report~ The revocation of permit #830560 is due
to the fact that the class "C" well serving the gas station and the mobile
home does not comply with the necessary' protective radius from all sources of
contamination. You must not install the holding tank until you receive per-
~i~-~ion from this department.
I have enclosed a copy of the ~chorage Wastewater Disposal Regulations for
your conven£ence.
All household wastewater is considered sewage per ordinance 15.65.020. If
you run water in the mobile home it must be disposed of in an approved manner.
The cesspool is to be caved in and fllle~w%th dirt to prevent cave-ins or
future use.
If you have any farther questions please call me at 264-472Q.
