The septic system was originally installed on September 13, 1983, and inspected by AECS. At that time, no well had been drilled on the lot. The well was subsequently drilled on September 25, 1983. In conducting a Health Authority inspection for this property on February 28, 1984, a measurement from the well to the nearest portion of the drainfield yielded a distance of 94 feet, as shown in the attached drawing. It appears that the siting of the well may have been constrained by a road easement fronting Bristol Drive and a possible power utility easement along Birch Road. The well is located at the furthest lot corner from the septic system. Additionally, the well was drilled through silty gravel with 40% clay binder from 0-24 feet, as noted in the well log, and showed no water yield down to 360 feet. Water production was confined to an area extending from 360 to 380 feet below ground surface. As such, the water supply should be quite protected from potential contamination by the septic system. In order to expedite the completion of our work concerning the Health Authority Authorization, it would appear that the granting of a waiver of distance would greatly clarify the situation.
