RE: Proposed Septic System at Montgomery Lot 3
Dear Reviewer,
When the septic system was installed, a monitor tube was not placed at the angle point of the drainfield.
During construction we confirmed that the field was constructed as shown on the submitted drawings.
Unfortunately, the monitor tube was installed at the end of the field instead of the angle point. This does
not have any impact whatsoever on the functionality of the system.
The requirement for monitor tubes at angle points of trenches was relatively new at the time and the
contractor and inspector didn't note the discrepancy during construction.

Wastewater Disposal Regulations (18AAC72) and Drinking Water Regulations (18AAC80)

Services Department per AMC 15.65. Provide notification by calling (907) 343-7904 (24/7).
4. From October 15 to April 15, a subsurface soil absorption system under construction during freezing weather
shall be either:
a. Opened and Closed on the same day, or
b. Covered, sealed, and heated to prevent freezing

RE: Proposed Septic System replacement for Montgomery Lot 3
Dear Reviewer,
The above referenced property is currently served by an older failed septic system. The owner would like
to install a new septic system to go with the new home. The subject parcel and adjacent parcels are
served by private well and septic system.
We are proposing to install a new 1000 gallon septic tank, and a new drainfield. The drainfield will be
sized for 3 bedrooms.
There is an existing septic system on the lot.The existing tank will be demolished per moa requirements
and the drainfield will remain for future use.
Included with this letter is a permit application and design package, including plans, and calculations.
A test hole was excavated and revealed good soils with no groundwater encountered.
The drainfield is being installed cross-slope. We are requesting a waiver to allow this as detailed on the
drawings. In the event that changed conditions result in deeper than anticipated topsoil layer or other
subsurface issues, the design will be revised via change order. With additional soils exploration, moving
the trench deeper, and/or lengthening it both appear to be viable options if necessary. As the slopes are
not steep, we anticipate no adverse impacts related to approval of this waiver.

Comments: This investigation was completed in compliance with MOA guidelines, regulations,
and best industry practices / methods. The assessment of the condition of the well and septic
applies only to the conditions as of the day tested. The flow and absorption rates may change
due to subsurface conditions that may not be observed from the surface, changes in land use,
local soil characteristics, groundwater levels that may fluctuate during the year, quality of
construction (workmanship & materials), the water usage of the family being served by the
system and maintenance. The operational life of all well and septic systems are subject to
