Box 196650 Anchorage, AK 99519 Dear Sirs: By means of this letter we are requesting a waiver of the normally required 10 foot separation distance between a soil absorption system and a lot line down to 4 feet for the soil absorption trench serving the Riddle residence on Lot 3, Block 4, Mountain Park Estates #2, located at 12840 Poster Road. A copy of an updated as-built survey showing the locations of the septic system standpipes and letters of non- objection from each of the four utilities which might use the easement in which the standpipe is located are enclosed. When the wastewater disposal system was installed in 1978, the Municipal inspector acknowledged the trench to be in the utility easement, but reported the trench to be 9 feet from the lot line. He, no doubt, based this distance on the locations of nearby fences, but scaling the location of the monitor tube at the north end of the trench on the enclosed as-built survey reveals the separation distance to be approximately 5 feet. The reason our waiver request is fox' 4 feet is to allow for possible underground projection of the sewer gravel closer to the lot line. We do not see any problem with granting the requested waiver. There is no conflict with nearby wells, and the septic system serving Lot 22, Block 4, Mountain Park Estates #2 (on the west side of the lot line) is more than 30 feet away on the eastern side of that lot. There appears to be ample room to upgrade that septic system at such time as it i~s needed, without any conflict with septic system serving the subject lot.
