I believe this completes the soils data requirements for this subdivision. Survey 3201, Section 9, Township 10N, Range 1W, Seward Meridian Dear Mr. Stephenson: At your request,' Mr. Dave Paul, senior engineering technician, logged a test pit on the subject property on August 7, 1980. The property is near Bird Creek on the Seward Highway south of Anchorage. The test pit was dug while Mr. Paul was present with a backhoe which you contracted. The soils encountered are graphically shown on Figure 2 attached to this letter. The soil from the surface to 2.5 feet was a brown sandy gravelly silt. Below this layer is a dense sandy gravel having about~~~_sil{,? The gravel is well graded and has occasional cobbles. A grain size distribution test was conducted on a sample of this soil. The results are attached as Figure 2. No ground water was encountered. The sandy gravelly silt is impervious, but the gravel underlying the silt is permeable. Based on our experience with simil~ soils, we ~guld estimate its ~ permeability is on the order of 10 centimeters per second. We recommend that the septic system drainfield be designed to provide 150 square feet of absorption area per bedroom. The system should be designed and constructed in accordance with the Municipality of Anchorage regulations. The following are attached and complete this report.
