The electrical inspection report is included for your review. The high level alarm comes on when the water level in the tank is 48" above the floor of the tank. The diverter valve placed on this system was a 4" Bull Run Valve from Western Utilities. The location and type have been indicated on the as-built. · The filter media used on the absorption bed came from Lake Otis Sand and Gravel. It was identified as Lake Otis Gravel. · Correct north arrows are now shown on the as-built documentation. · The distance between the tank and the drainage ditch is shown on the drawing as 68'. · The correct number of cleanouts are shown prior to the biocycle. Besides the foundation cleanout there is a diverter valve and one other cleanout. The amount of cover over the line leaving the biocycle is 2.5' as shown on the drawing. Insulation is also shown over the line. This information addresses comments received from your initial review of the as-built. Hopefully, the as-built can now be approved by the Municipality. His home on these lots is currently served by a holding tank which has been in use for several use since the original absorption trench failed. We are now proposing to install an innovative biocycle aerated wastewater treatment system on his property to replace the- holding tank. Mr. Nordby has inspected the demonstration system currently in place on the hillside and is more than willing to try this system on his property. He is aware of the maintenance and testing requirements and has executed the maintenance agreement which is attached. A diversion valve will be placed in the sewerline exiting the house and the holding tank will remain in place. Should problems arise with the new system, the holding tank can be put back in to use in a short period of time. In addition, a curtain drain will be placed around the perimeter of the proposed absorption bed to protect it from groundwater intrusion. A drain was placed around the percolation area in an attempt to lower the groundwater and was successful. We feel we will have the same success around the new absorption bed. We are also proposing to place 4' of sand above the percolation layer to provide additional separation from groundwater and to increase the surge capacity of the system. The pressure distribution of effluent into the sand bed will assure even saturation and absorption. Dear Mr. Ward: On March 14, 1977, at your request, our office conducted a percolation test on the existing sewage disposal system located on the above describ- ed lot. The following table represents the level of the liquid in the tank. The depth of liquid in the tank was initially 5.9 feet below the top of the stand pipe. The tank was assumed to be full or at the outlet level. For the test, the liquid level was measured from the top of the stand pipe. The meter had previously been calibrated by R & M Consultants, Inc. The septic tank had not been pumped prior to the percolation test. Since the house on the lot concerned was occupied, it can be assumed that the leach field in question was at its normal degree of saturation. Mr. Mike Ward March 15, 1977 Page 2 If it is assumed that the existing two bedroom house will house four people, the average daily load on the disposal system can be expected to be 300 gallons per day, or 0.21 gpm. Since the existing disposal system accepted 0.21 gpm, I would conclude that the leach field is presently adequate for the attached private residence.
