The owners/occupants of the house are unable to use the plumbing system in the house at this time since the system will not accept any effluent without either backing up into the house or flowing over the field cleanout. Simply put, the existing septic system has failed. We are asking for expedited review and issuance of the permit in order to alleviate the system failure. We are submitting herewith the test boring results and our comments regarding soil conditions encountered at the subject site. This investigation was performed in accordance with your request of August 15, 1974, and those procedures outlined in a letter dated September 13, 1971 by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area Borough Department of Environmental Quality. A single test hole was put do~n within the Lot 3 area for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with a tractor-mounted backhoe and the test was extended to a total, depth of 16.0 feet below ground surface. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included in Drawing A-0I. Ground water Vas not encountered in the test hole. We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service .to you. The septic tank was pumped and verified to have a capacity of 1000 gallons. The seepage pit was tested by charging the system with 1000 gallons of fresh water and after a period of 24 hours approximately 584 gallons had percolated ~out of the crib. It can be concluded from this test that the waste water disposal system serving ~he three bedroom residence located on this property is currently functioning adequately. However, the~ system cannot be guaranteed against subsequent failure. It should also be noted that the wires and the sanitary seal on the well have been brought up to code.
