RE: Prospect Heights Subdivision, No. 3
Block 9, Replat of Lot 3A
Dear Susan,
This will respond to your review comments of 10-3-91. The following should
provide the required information.
A. The enclosed soils logs have been revised to include the requested
format for perc tests.
B. Water monitoring was done on the dates the soil logs were taken,
(9/18/91 & 9/20/91), on 9/28/91, and on 10/6/91. No water was encountered
during these times. The static level in the well on Lot 3A , which is located
on ground which is about 20' higher in elevation than the proposed soil
absorption system, is 47' below casing height. The lake to the northwest has
a level about 44' below the ground level at the proposed soil absorption
system. These observations were made at the end of a wet summer.
The foregoing would tend to indicate that ground water would not
be a problem to the proposed on-site system. However the soils log which was
done on June 8, 1977 for the existing dwelling on Lot 3A showed a ground water
level of 7.5' This would indicate that ground water levels vary widely
within short distances, or that they fluctuate significantly, or that they
were higher in the past.. It may be advisable to monitor the test holes during
a high water period to ascertain whether a curtain drain will be needed to
lower ground water levels at the proposed trench. A bed or mound system could
also be considered as alternatives at that time.
C. Ail applicable details within a radius of 200' have been shown on
the enclosed drawing.
D. The reserved area has been shown on the enclosed drawing.
Development of the adjacent properties will not be adversely impacted by
construction of the proposed system, as distances to adjacent features are in
compliance with applicable requirements. The closest feature that could be
affected is the existing lake to the northwest, which is about 190' from the
proposed on-site system. The separation distance for the proposed well
impinges a distance of 90' on Lot 7, Block 2. This lot is over 2 acres, and
is presently undeveloped. There is ample room for development as construction
will probably occur at the high ground adjacent to Prospect Drive.

It is recommended that the replat be approved. It is further recommended that
the test holes be monitored over a high ground water level period, and that a
permit for the on-site system be issued if no ground water is noted within 4'
of the bottom of the proposed trench.
Sincerely,
Stanley Brust, P.E.

RE: Prospect Heights Subdivision No. 3, Block 9,
Replat of Lot 3A
This letter and attachments is primarily to provide required information to
support a proposed replat of Lot 3A into Lots 4A and 4B. A secondary purpose
is to accompany a permit application for an on-site waste disposal system and
well at the proposed Lot 4B, once the proposed replat is approved. The
following are attached.
1. Drawing of proposed on-site systems, and separation distances.
2. Soils log and percolation test results.
3. Trench design calculations.
4. Well log for Lot 3A (Formerly Lot 3)
5. Inspection report for Lot 3A
6. Contours of the area.
Development of the adjacent properties will not be adversely impacted by
construction of the proposed system, as distances to adjacent features are in
compliance with applicable requirements. The closest feature that could be
affected is the existing well on Lot 3A, which is over 200' from the proposed
on-site system. Slopes on this lot are moderate, and average about 12% at the
proposed on-site system.
Both the replacement and the original system trenches fitted within the 30'
radius circles around the test holes.
Water appears to be available in this part of the hillside. The well log for
lot 3A shows that it provides 10 gpm at a 71' drawdown. Discussions with
neighbors disclosed no problems with water supply.
cc Jerry Weaver
Robert E. Johns, Jr.
It is recommended that the replat be approved. It is further recommended that
a permit for the on-site system be issued once the replat for Lot 4B is
approved.
