Schroeder #3; Lot 1, Block 1, To whom it may concern: The existing 3 bedroom house is served by a private well and septic system. The existing septic system is in a state of failure and needs to be updated. We are proposing to install a 1000 gallon septic tank and deep trench type drainfield. Attached are a site plan and a design drawing showing the proposed septic system. One test hole was excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of this test hole. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached site plan, the average topography above the drainfield is 20-30% running northeast to southwest. There is a cutbank below the drainfield less than 50 feet away. See the slope waiver request. 5. LOT LINE WAIVER: Due to site constraints, we are requesting a 1' lot line waiver from the east lot line to the proposed drainfield. 8. SLOPE WAIVER: We are requesting a 40' waiver be granted from the drainfield to the cutbank. As can be seen on the attached drawing, at a 25% slope (starting 2.5 feet above the drainfield) the potential point of daylighting is 40' horizontally from the trench. The following are mitigating factors for the justification of these waivers: · There is a driveway between the cutbank and the drainfield. If any sewage were to daylight it would be noticed immediately and a course of action would be taken. · The test hole logged by Jody Maus classified the soil as a GP to GM material with a percolation rate of 4 min./inch. This would indicate that there would be a rapid downward movement ofwastewater rather than lateral movement. · The existing drainfield is also with in 50 feet of the cutbank and has existed for over 25 years with no indication of daylighting. 3701 E. ' The site plan attached shows the proposed location of the new septic system. During an inspection of the existing septic system, it was discovered that there was a hole in the existing fiberglass septic tank. This tank was replaced by a 1,000 gallon steel tank, and during the reconnection to the leach line, it was discovered that the leach- field piping was plugged and not functional. It is therefore necessary for the owner to replace the entire leachfield. A soil test hole including a ground water monitoring tube has been excavated. The upgrade will require the leachfield to be directly adjacent to the driveway. We are asking that the Municipality prepare an upgrade permit and a conditional health approval to be issued when the ? day monitor period is completed. The conditional health approval should be based on escrow of money to complete the septic leachfield upgrade as per- mitted. We are asking for this conditional approval so the owner can leave on out-of-town business while the leachfield is installed. The system accepted the full amount of water without any adverse effect. It can be concluded from this test that the waste water disposal system serving the three bedroom residence located on this property is currently functioning adequately.
