July 1958 GREATER ANCHORAGE AREA BOROUGH Department of Environmental Quality MEMORANDUM August 6, 1971 TO: FROM: SUBJECT: John Lee, Senior Environmental Specialist Lynn Coad, Environmental Specialist N160' of Lot 47, Dowling Subdivision, Dean Lust, Owner. An inspection of the subject lot revealed that the semi-public well was 77 feet to the septic tank and 85 feet to the seepage pit. Also the well is 95 feet to the neighbors seepage pit. The sewer system on the subject lot has been in existance since 1958. The neighbors system has been in existance since 1964. The water sample taken on 7-6-71 proved to be satisfactory. It is my opinion that time has proved that the closeness of the sewer systems to the well will not create a heal th hazard, there- fore I approved the duplex and its sewer and water systems as is. The duplex on this lot has a total of three bedrooms. In my opinion the water usage for this duplex will not be much more than a three bedroom single family house. The construction of the well needs to be upgraded before final approval can be ~Ly~in S. Coad st ,.,luly 23, 1~71 Kassler Nest Mortgage Corporation 604 E. 6th Avenue Anchorage, Alaska Subject: Water Supply to H 160' of Lot 47, Oowltng Subdivision Dear Ltnda: An inspection of the subject lot revealed that the well was in a pit below the ground. The distances from the well to the sewer system were 77 feet from the well to the septic tank and 85 feet to the seepage pit. Before approval for the sewer and water systems can be given by this office the proper distances from the well to the sewer system need to be obtained. These distances would be a min- imum of 80 feet from the well to any septic tank and 120 feet from the well to any seepage pit. Also the casing on the well needs to be extended above the ground and the pit filled in. If there are any questions regarding the above please do'not hesitate to contact this office.
