Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 Subject: Lot 4, Block 2 Drake Subdivision EMERGENCY Septic Upgrade Permit Existing System Is in Failure Gentlemen: My firm was contacted to investigate the septic system serving this lot due to sewage flowing out of the existing systems stand pipe. The existing system was constructed from a 1944 Dodge four door coup and 55 gallon drum and is in failure. A single test hole was excavated on June I0, 1998 for a system upgrade. The soils report and a percolation test remit is attached. No ground water was encountered or monitored after eight days. No bedrock was encountered in the test hole. The lot is approximately 2.0 acres in size. Lot 4 slopes to the southwest at a rate of approximately 1 to 4 percent. The proposed installation will be located ~ the south western portion of the lot. The existing field will be abandoned in place. A new 1,000 gallon septic t~ill be installed. Doubl~ clean-outs will be installed before and after the tank. The proposed location is greater th!~ -i00 feet away from the existing well serving this property and 25 feet from the water service lines. The surroundi~ wells are located greater than 100 feet from the proposed installation. The proposed installation will not affeol~l~e furore development of the surrounding or existing lots.
