Dear Mr. Smelker:
Per your request I have conducted soils tests to assess the feasibility of oonstructing on-site wa~,'tewater
disposal f~eilities on a new lot which you propose to create from a portion of the NW ~A, SE ',6, section 23, T12N,
ROW, S.M. Soils logs for two test holes, including perc test and groundwater monitoring results, as well as a site,
plan depicting the locations of the test holes and possible locations for an original and two replacm'aent soil
absorption ~'enches are cmclosed.
Much of the proposed lot is Iow lying and poorly drained and there is a sn~il dmina!&e ditch Ira.versing the
southwestern portinn, however there is a knoll witt~ higher and better drained soils near the center of the proposed lot.
Our soils ,nalysis efforts focused on assessing the fe, asibility of e, onstruethag on-site wastowater dispos~fl systems on
this knoll. Two test holes were dug on August 6 to de~ths of 18 and 1 ?.3'. The soils encounter~ were generally silty
sands, with cleaner materials encountered in mst hdc ~1, where we m~aanred a perc rate of 4 minutes per inch as
opposed to 60 minutes per inch in test hole #2. No groundwamr was encountered in either test hole. On the site plan
! have depicted locations for one original and two repla~;ement trenches which are sized for a 3 bedroom house for
soils with a perc rate of 60 minutes per inch. Care will have to be taken to maintain the required 100 foot s~back
from surfic~ water and to not let the house footprint encroach on the area needed for the septic system and its future
replacements.
Please feel free lo give me a call if you have any questions on this report.
Sin~rely,
Ted Moore, P.E.

Dew Mr. Sme~er:
Per your request I have conducted soils tests to assess the feasibility of constructing on-site wastewater
disposal facilities on a new lot which you propose to create from a pmtion of the NW ¼, SE ¼, section 23, T12N,
R3W, S.M. Soils logs for two test holes, including pert test and groundwater monitoring results, as well as a site
plan depicting the locations of the test holes and possible locations for an original and two replacement soil
absorption trenches are enclosed.
Much of the proposed lot is low lying and poorly drained and there is a small drainage ditch traversing the
southwestern pm~don, however there is a knoll with higher and better drained soils near the center of the proposed lot.
()ur soils analysis efforts focused on assessing the feasibility of constructing on-site wastewater disposal systems on
this knoll. Two test holes were dug on August 6 to depths of 18 and 17.3'. The soils encountered were generally silty
sands, with cleaner materials encountered in test hole #1, where we measured a perc rate of 4 minutes per inch as
opposed to 60 minutes per inch in test hole #2. No groundwater was encountered in either test hole. On the site plan
I have depicted locations for one original and two replacement trenches which are sized for a 3 bedroom house for
soils with a perc rate of 60 minutes per inch. Care will have to be taken to maintain the reqnimd 100 foot setback
from surface water and to not let the house footprint encroach on the area needed for the septic system and its future
replacements.
Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions on this report.
Sincerely,
Ted Moore, P.E.
