The septic tank was pumped and in accordance with municipality records has a capacity of 2250 gallons. The absorption trench was tested by a continuous flow of water over a period. of 72 hours. The average flow for each 24 hour period indicated that the absorption trench is capable of accepting a sufficient quantity of water for a 10 bedroom apartment unit:. It can be concluded from this test that the septic tank has adequate capacity for 10 bedrooms.and the absorption trench was installed and tested and appears to be adequate for ten bedrooms. however, the system cannot be guaranteed subsequent failure. A re-examination of field notes from the adequacy test performed in November indicated that the absorption trench serving the apartment house located on Lot 3; Block 5; Eklutna East Subdivision, is currently functioning adequately for 12 bedrooms. However, the septic tank as originally installed in 1976 is only adequate for 10 bedrooms as reported in the above reference. We do propose, based upon our conversation,'to install a 1000 gallon septic tank between the existing septic tank and the absorption trench in April of this year. A proposal for the installation of this tank is attached for your information. Upon completion of this work the entire septic system can be considered adequate for 12 bedrooms as you requested.
