Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 Subject: Evenson S/D, Block 1 Lot 2B Septic System Permit Upgrade Request Ladies and Gentlemen: I am writing to request a permit to construct an upgraded septic system be issued for this property. The proposed systems will serve an existing three-bedroom house. Currently the lot is developed. The lot is served by a private water supply. The existing septic system shall be modified and reused. A new drain field will be installed south of the existing field and identical to the existing field. The surrounding developed lots are served by private water systems and community water system. The private wells are located over 100 feet from the proposed soil absorption system. The community well is located over 200 feet from the proposed upgrade. 1. Soils. A single test hole was excavated by Spurkland Engineering in July of 1992. See the soil log on file with your department. Ground water was monitored for seven days. No ground water was monitored to a depth of 16 feet below ground level after the monitoring period. Bedrock was not encountered in the test hole. It is my opinion, based on the results of the percolation tests and overall soils appearance; an application rate of 0.6 gallons/day/square feet should be used, using a conventional wastewater treatment system. 2. Except for condensation on the steel pressure tank the pit floor and walls are dry7 with no water marks to indicate previous incidents of standing water. The well pump and riser are hung on the well seal^ This type of installation was common practice at the time this well was drilled. To day pit installations are not allowed^ Sinco there is no evidence that the well pit has ever contained surface water; the well water tests negative for E.Coli and ND forNitrates, we ask that this installation be approved and a HAA be issued.
