Dear Mr. Warthen At your request of June 17, 1978, I conducted a soils investigation at the proposed location of a sanitary sewer system on the subject lot. This investigation, which was accomplished on June 20, 1978, consisted of the inspection of soils removed during drilling. The test hole was drilled by a trailer mounted Mobile B-34 drill rig using 4" diameter solid flight ugers to a total depth of 20 feet. The topography of the area where the soils test was conducted, consists of a low hill that slopes away to the west, north and south at approximately a 5-10% grade. Vegetation in the immediate area consisted of tall birch and spruce, with moderately dense willows and alders, and a low ground cover of moss and grasses. The soils encountered are graphically shown on the accompanying test hole boring log. The soils consisted of a layer of organics intermixed with sand with some silt to a depth of approximately 1.5 feet. This layer is underlain by a sand with a low trace silt to a depth of 8.5 feet and a sandy gravel with an occasional cobble from 8.5 feet to a total depth of 20.0 feet. No water table was encountered. A percolation test was attempted because of the relative fineness of the sands, but could not be conpleted because the water percolated out of the hole faster than it could be filled. An accompanying sketch shows the subject lot with the approximate location of the test hole in relation to the property lines. I appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you.
