The location of the new garage will require the relocation of the existing foundatiOn c. leanout and the placement of a new septic tank a minimum of 5' from the new garage foundation. The existing tank will either be removed or pumped, crushed, backfilled and abandoned in place. The location of the existing tank the proposed location of the · new tank are shown on the attached Site Plan. We are hereby applying for a permit to reconstruct the septic system as described above. The home is currently served by a 11' X 14' X 6' deep absorption crib which was constructed in 1975. No information is available as to the type of soil in which the crib is located, but it appears to be absorbing septic effluent adequately at this time. The property to the north, east and west of this lot is vacant. The only well of any conCern is on the lot. The system will be located a minimum of 100' from this well. The ground surface near the new septic system slopes to the west at a 5% grade. Further to the west the groUnd surfac, e drops much more rapidly at a nearly 20% grade. If the system ~s constructed as designed the following statements apply: 1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. · The system, if constructed as designed, Will have no adverse impact on existing-septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the futUre. · Lot. 4, Block 1, Conifer Heights July 13, 1997 Page Two The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserved space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. This investigation was performed in accordance with your request of June 3, 1975, and those procedures outlined in a letter dated December 19, 1974, by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area BOrough Department of Environmental Quality. A single test hole was put down within the Lot 4 area for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with a tractor- mounted backhoe and the test hole was extended to a total depth of 14.0 feet below ground surface. One sample was recovered from the test hole and retained for grain size analysis. The results of this sample are enclosed. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included in Drawing A-01.
