We propose to decommission the existing absorption field and install two shallow trenches to serve the existing 4 -bedroom residence. Please amend the permit to 4 bedrooms. The other or `A51h bedroom" is a den or office without proper ingress/egress windows,... The design is based on available data and the recent test hole conducted in the fall of 2022 with October groundwater readings per the attached. The slopes are moderate at 3-8% at the proposed upgrade location and flatter slopes below. The lot and area are served by private water. The design will not impact any of the neighboring properties. The depth of a trench or pit is the distance between the surface of the ground and the bottom of the excavation(in feet). There is no set width for trenches. Minimum distance between a well and any on-site sewage disposal system is 100 feet for a private well or 150 to 200 feet from a public well depending upon the type of public well. Minimum distance from a private well to a private sewer line is 25 feet and to a community sewer line is 75 feet. Well logs are required and must be returned to this department within 30 days of the well completion. Other requirements may apply. Hill: in accordance with your request, I j~e completed soils analyses~for on-site sewage disposal on Lots 5~nd 16; Block 3; Conifer Heights Subdivision, Anchorage. Drilling, consisting of three test holes, was performed on ~.~rch 28, 1978 by Denali Drilling, Inc. of Anchorage em- oloying a B-50 ~obile drill; logging and percolation testing were per- ~ormed by myself in accordance ~th the Unified Soil Classification ~ystem, the Soil Triangle, and 'the "~anual of Septic-Tank Practice". All three test holes were saturated at least 24 hm~s prior to the test. ~ae attached sheets detail the results. As is typical with soils in the 0'!:~lley-Hillside area, the encountered soils consisted generally of glacial drift composed of a mixture of silt, sand, and gravel. The silt compone~as a large influence on the per- colation rat~, measured to be 135,(155~and 200 sq ft/be~room. ~o 'test holes (TH 1&3) suffered some s~ghing during percolation, so two tests were repeated, with w~ter levels determined by means of a 1" perforated plastic pipe installed immediately after drilling. The three lots are amply covered v~th large spruce and birch trees, in- dicative of good drainage; however, the drainfield trench for Lot 5 should be located slightly southwest of TH 1, and about 5 feet higher in elevation in order to ~void potential seepage from a nearby low area that has no outlet. During breakup, water could collect in this low area and be detrimental.
