The permit expired prior to completion of the system. At some point a 1,000-gallon septic tank was placed on the lot and what appears to be an absorption crib. The construction of this system was not documented. We are requesting a permit to construct a new septic system to serve the home and ADU on the lot. The proposed location of the new system is shown on the attached Site Plan along with the locations of the existing systems. The existing system, placed without a permit, will be decommissioned in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code. The original system shown on the permit issued in 2000 will also be decommissioned. The surface of the lot is virtually flat with no slopes greater than 2% in any direction. The new absorption system will be placed parallel to the slope as much as possible. A test hole will be placed prior to construction to verify the quality of the subsurface soils. A test hole placed by S&S Engineering in 2000 indicates coarse gravel with percolation rates less than 1 minute per inch are found on the lot. A sand layer will be placed to flow the percolation rate of the underlying soil. Wells on this and adjacent lots are shown. The alternate septic site is also shown and is more than 6’ from the primary site. Please refer to the attached plan sheet for the well location and preliminary septic design. The owner must place a new well on the property to provide water to the three-bedroom home and 1-bedroom ADU on the lot. The existing well will be decommissioned in accordance with Municipal Code.
