OEIO.2B~IeO 1976 Mr. Charles Walsh 1273 Bannister Anchorage, Ak R & M No. 653121 RE: Percolation Test on Existing Disposal System; ~t 10, Block 16, Alyeska Sub~ivision Unit %2 Dear Mr. Walsh: On July 22, 1976, at the request of Craig Lar~n, our office conducted a per=elation test on the existing sewage disposal syste~ located on the above described lot. The following table represents the level of the liquid in the tank. The dep~% of the tank was 4.9 feet. The depth of liquid in the tank was initially 3.6 feet above the bottom and 1.7 feet below the top of the stand pipe. The tank had Been pumped prior to the test and was therefore assumed to be below the outlet level. For the test, the liquid level was measured from the top of the stand pipe. SUMMARY OF MEASUREMENTS I~vel of Liquid Meter Reading Time .In Septic Tank In Gallons 0~00 1.72' 0.0 (inttal) 1~10 1.09' 146.5 3:00 1.09' 484 3:15 1.09' 484 (final) Remarks Fill Storage Start Test (337.5 gal/ 110 min, 3.09 gpm) End Test Check Liquid level The meter used during the test was a Neptune 5/8" standard water meter which was borrowed from the Anchorage Water Utility. The meter had previously been calibrated and approved for installation by the utility company. The septic tank had been pumped one week prior to the percolation test. Since the house on the lot concerned was o~cupied, it can be assumed that the leach field in question was at its normal degree of saturation. To further insure normal saturation and to fill any possible storage in the system, 147 gallons of water were added to the tank before beginning the percolation test. ANCHORAGE FAIRBANKB JUNEAU Mr. Charles Welsh Page Two July 23, 1976 If it is assumed ~hat the existing one bedroom plus loft residence will house three people, the average daily load on the disposal system can be ex~ecte~ to be 225 gallons per day. The maximum hourly load on the system woulabe about 0.5 gallons per minute (gpm). Since the existing disposal system accepted 324 gallons in 1.8 hours (3.0 gXm~) without a level rise, I would conclude that the leach field is presently performing in a satisfactory manner for a private residence. If you have any questions concerning this test or this letter, please do not hesitate to call. Very~ truly yo~ms, R & M CONSULTANTS, INC. Edward Yarmak, Jr. Junior Engineer E¥/ddp Copy: Craig Larson
