Re: Water and Sewer for Lot 53, Section 4, T 12N, R 3W (Bass Property)
Gentlemen:
After discussing the situation on the abovementioned property with Mr. Strickland
from DEQ and Mr. M.K. Matthews who proposes further development of the
property, we would like to make the following recommendations to DEQ for
their approval and/or recommendations.
Item 1. The existing house which is presently occupied by Mr. Bass was
constructed in 1955 along with an existing well and sewage disposal system.
We would propose the existing septic tank be exposed and the distance from
the well verified. If the septic tank is closer than about 100 feet from the
well, the chances are very good that the disposal field would be within the
minimum distance required for separation between a well and a disposal system.
If indeed the septic tank proves to be closer than the 100 foot distance, we
would propose the existing system be abandoned and a new system be constructed
which would conform to the required setbacks.
Item 2. The house on the center of the property which is approximately 85%
complete has an approved septic tank and disposal system. No further action
would be anticipated on this system.
Item 3. The house which is furthest from the Bass residence or closest to
Lake Otis Boulevard and is approximately 50% complete, has an existing septic
tank which is apparently not connected to a disposal field. We would propose
that the existing tank be raised approximately 4 feet which would put it
4 feet above the water table. From the tank a new disposal system would be
constructed at the same elevation,in a granular fill. This fill would be
placed after the organics are stripped. Using the granular fill, we would
proposerequirement, that the disposal system be sized on an 85 square foot per bedroom
Item 4. The existing well will be test pumped to verify the adequacy of the
water supply, and the storage required for the 3 structures will be sized
based on the results of the test pumping. The well will also be extended on
the top to approximately 6" above the surrounding ground and a small concrete
collar will be placed around the well for a seal.

Item 5. We will verify the existing water distribution system to the 3
houses. If the system is as described, that is copper line buried to a
depth of 8 to 10 feet, we would anticipate no additional work would be
required on the distribution system. Again, the storage requirements for
the houses will be developed after the well is test pumped.
If the following items meet with your approval or if you have any questions,
please let us know, and we will be glad to discuss the matter further with you.
Very truly yours,
