Ref: Proposed Septic System for Bear Valley; Block 1, Lot 4;
To whom it may concern:
The existing 3 bedroom house is served by a private well and septic system. The drainfield is in a
state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install a new 1250 gallon STEP tank
and a dual 5 -wide trench type drainfields. One testhole was excavated on the property. The
drainfields will be installed around the 30 foot radius of this testhole. Comments regarding the design
are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached log which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and
the percolation test results.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns.
4. TOPOGRAPHY & WAIVER REQUEST: As can be seen on the attached topography drawing, the
average topography around the proposed drainfields are 30-35% running southeast to northwest.
We are requesting the proposed drainfield be installed on a slope no greater than 35%. The
following are justifications for the waiver;
• The slopes below the proposed drainfields site are vegetated.
• The existing drainfields were installed on similar slopes and functioned without daylighting
(even when surcharged).
• For mounded systems your department only requires slopes of 3:1, we are requesting the
same requirement be made in this case as well. The proposed installation is more
conservative because the slopes below the drainfield are insitu and already vegetated.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic

Dear Keith:
This will follow up our conversation of April 11, 1984 regarding
the geometry of the well and septic system on the referenced lot.
I measured the distance between the well and the septic tank
cleanout on April 10, 1984. The distance was 90 feet.
The topography indicates that surface drainage will flow to the
west. Although the ground at the well is about 7 feet lower than
the ground at the septic tank, surface drainage would generally
tend to travel in a line perpendicular to the line joining the
two.
Ground water, in general, would travel with the slope of the
surface. The static water level in the well is 40 feet. The
soil profile shows a granular material which should have good
filtering action.
Therefore, if the septic tank leaked, the contaminant would tend
to be filterea out by the soil. If contamination did reach the
water table, it would tend to flow in a direction away from the
well.
Based on the foregoing, I recommend a waiver of the 100 feetIf'
separation distance for this system..' f`

and must be returned to this department within 30 days of the well completion.

is 25 feet and to a community sewer line is 75 feet. Well logs are required
and must be returned to this department within 30 days of the well completion.

In conducting this evaluation, GEG, L(D. attempted to provide a thorough,
conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with ADEC and MOA
DSO Guidelines & Regulations. The reported results described the performance of the
system under the conditions encountered at the time of the test, and separation
distances measured to readily identifiable features. The operational life of all wells and
septic systems depend on the local sails condition, groundwater levels that may
fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system.
These conditions are outside the control of the evaluator of the system. Satisfactory test
results do not guarantee future performance of the system, nor do they guarantee that
there are no hidden defects or encroachments. GEG, LTD. can therefore not provide
any warranty or future estimate of how long the system will continue to meet the
operational requirements of the ADEC or MOA DSD. The content of this report is for
