During the design, the testhole was dry to 14 feet. In addition, on the east end of the trench it was noted that only about 4 feet of fill was over the proposed drainfield area (6 feet anticipated). In short, due to the lower amount of fill and elevated groundwater in the testhole, a design change is required. We are proposing to install 3 feet of sand, putting the bottom of the system at 3 feet below original grade (pre -2006 construction) and a total depth of 7 feet below existing grade (groundwater at 11.4 feet on 8/10/2022). In addition, we are proposing to utilize a CAT III application rate with the existing treatment pod. We will have approximately 3 feet of sand in the bottom of the trench, which will arguably improve the effluent quality (to CAT III BOD & TSS standards) prior to reaching the underlying native material. During excavation at the very east end of the trench trench, the bedding material from the tank to the drainfield was encountered, which allowed perched water from the pipe bedding material to flood the bottom of the trench. MOA onsite employee Tim Ecklund was onsite. It is not believed to be groundwater as the water was discharging significantly above the bottom of the excavation and the flow (per the contractor) was dissipating. Due to the shallow groundwater, slope conditions, house location etc.; we are proposing that a SCATIm Aerocell Treatment System be installed on this property. The proposed well is to be drilled in the area shown on the attached site plan and design drawings. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: SOILS: Attached are two soil logs which shows the soils classifications, percolation tests, and groundwater monitoring. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. SURFACE WATERS: There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed septic system. TOPOGRAPHY: The lot slopes from approximately south to north with slopes ranging from 20 to 30 percent. In the area of the proposed drainfield, the slope ranges from 20 to 25 percent. Given the depth of the proposed distribution line, there will be no slope concerns from a 2 foot elevation above the distribution line at a 25 percent slope for 50 feet.
