Pannone, Principal Registered Professional Engineer E-mail:steve@panengak.com August 23,2018 Subject: BERGGREN L3 Septic Tank Replace Permit Request Design Narrative This is a design narrative for a permit to install an upgrade 1000g Septic Tank to be issued for this property.The existing 1000g tank is at the end of its life and the pumper has recommended replacement. It will be removed and replaced. Currently the lot is developed.The proposed system will utilize a replacement 1000g septic tank at the owner's request that will be connected to the existing drain field. This lot and the surrounding lots are served by private wells. The private well for this property is within 100'of the existing and proposed septic tank(see Waivers). There was a separation distance waiver granted for the system in 1985.There are no other wells within 100'of the system. 1. Upgrade Tank Design. a. See Sheet 1 of the design package. 2. Surface Water:There is no surface water within 100 feet of the proposed septic tank.The proposed septic tank upgrade will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches. 3. Topography:The existing topography in the area of the system slopes from east to west at a slope of 5%-10%. 4. Waivers: We would like to request a waiver for separation distance for the proposed septic tank to the well located on the lot with the details specified below. a. Septic Tank(P)to Well(E):A separation distance waiver between existing well on Lot 3 and the proposed replacement septic tank on the same lot. The distance between the existing septic tank and well is 92.0±. We are requesting a waiver for the proposed tank to the existing well for a distance of 88'on Lot 3. i. After careful review of that data and additional mechanical sieve analysis of samples taken from several of the lots, we would like to further clarify the percolation ratings on Lots 1 and 3 of the subdivision. First Lot 1'. We reiterate that we feel that an on-site sewage disposal system can be constructed in Lot 1.' However, we quote from Page 2 of our July 13th report which states, "The results of these percolation tests showed a minimum percolation rate of 20 minutes/inch in 'the SW corner of the lot in the silt and 10 minutes/inch in the NW corner of the lot. WE: therefore, recommend the placing of the system in the NW corner of the lot and the use of a design percolation rating of 10 minutes/inch."
