seepage pit arrangement. However, public sewer is available
%o %he subject lot, ~i}e~efore, ~is departmen~ ~ill not give
it~' approval un%il :ho subject d~elltng is connected to the

MEMORANDUM
March 7,
1973
TO: Rolf Strickland j~
FROM: Tim Rumfelt ~/
SUBJECT: Swiss Aires Subdivision
On March 6, 1973 I inspected the glaciated portion of
this subdivision and found that the tops for the stand pipes
for the existing sewage disposal systems are all at least
2' above the ice. Therefore, I foresee no contamination
problems until breakup, at which time a high water table
may appear.

The Greater Anchora§:J Area Borough, i)e?artment of Environmental
Quality has received and reviet,~ed th~ engineering plans for the
subject project. We find that th'ese plans meet with all conditions
with whici~ this Department is concerned. 'Je note that on manilole
SA-q you are ~aking s~ecial precautions to insure ti)~~ watertight
integrity of ti~is manhole since it is witi)in the 80° radius of ~he
well si gJ)t.
We do have som~: concern, ho~:ev(.~r, on Lot l, Block 2, King Subdivision
where your aerial p, hoto shows a rather large apartmen'~ house. This
apartment house, b~cause of its location~ is served by a well ~hich
would be also classed semi-public Class "A". Our records do not
indicate t,yhere this ~ell is located and we are unable to contact
owner of the apartment house. We would advise you that prior to the
construction of the sewer line down ~adine Place, t)~is exact well
location s~ould be known so that the~proper design of the se~,,,er line
can be used.
Should you iiave an,y quest'ions regarding our review of th~se plans,
please contact me.

SUBJECT: Swiss Aire Subdivision Lateral I~)~provement
District
The Department of Environmental ~uality has experienced
a series of problems in the subject subdivision concerning
grossly inadequate selvage disposal as a result of rather
poor soil conditions in a high surface water table.
The above conditions result in a public health threat to
the area and it is therefore the request of the Department
of Environmental Quality that early action be taken to pro-
vide public sewers to this area.
You may also refer to our previous memorandum of August l,
1972.
