SPECIFICATIONS ]FOR ON-SITE SEPTIC SYSTEM
LEGAL: LOT 6, T12N R3W SEC.15
GENERAL
1. The well and septic plan are for a single family residence only.
2. The drawing and or site plan shall be a part of this specification.
3. All materials and workmanship shall meet the Anchorage Department of Health
and State Department of Environmental Conservation requirements.
4. All soil tests are advisory to the design and are to be verified or modified in the
field by the engineer.
5. All excavations and depths are advisory and are to be verified or modified in the
field by the contractor to meet Municipality of Anchorage, Department of
Environmental Conservation requirements.
6. It is the responsibility of the owner to obtain all necessary permits or easements
and to locate any adjacent multi-family wells.
7. The excavation is to be exactly in the area shown on the site plan, any deviation
requires engineer approval.
8. It is always recommended that a surveyor locate the nearest lot line position and
the location of any easements.
BED
1. The bed is to follow the natural land contour to maintain uniform total depth of
the bed bottom.
2. The bottom of the bed shall be level, plus or minus 1.5".
3. Bed is to be over excavated 2' below gravel level and backfilled with 2' of
material meeting filter sand specifications.
4. The total depth of gravel is not to exceed 4' at any point.
5. The bed gravel is to be covered with typar fabric material.
6. Soil or combination of soil and extruded board insulation to a depth of 3' or
equivalent is to be placed over the leachfield.
7. Tile area over tile bed is to be finish graded to prevent ponding of surface water
runoff.
8. The septic tank and leacbfield must not be closer than 100' to any existing private
well, 150' to any Class "C" well, or 200 feet to any community well.
RECOMMENDED LEACHFIELD DIMENSIONS:
TOTAL DEPTH = 4' GRAVEL DEPTH = 6" under pipe
BED LENGTH = 48' BED WIDTH -- 18'
SOIL RATING = 0.7 GPD/ft2 BEDROOM CAPACITY = 4
SEPTIC TANK SIZE = 1,250 gallons

Potential Well Development
Dear Dan,
Mr. Ken Knight is proposing a subdivision of the existing Lot 6 of T12N R3W Sec 15,
into lots 1 and 2 of Knight Subdivision. The plat number is S-11331. This area is
served by private wells and septic systems. I have investigated the potential for well and
septic development on the proposed Lot 2 Knight S/D. The potential for septic
development was previously proved up with a test hole on November 16, 2004. This
letter will provide information for the potential well development. I believe that the
property can be served by a private well, based upon data from adjacent properties.
Mr. Knight currently lives on the existing Lot 6, which is developed with a well and septic
system. The well flow was tested on November 25, 1992 at 5.6 gallons per minute
(gpm). The nitrates were determined to be 0.49 mg/l on November 6, 1992. There is
no well log available.
Other properties in the area have well depths ranging from 69 ft to 74 ft. These are
detailed below. Well flows for neighboring properties range from 5.6 gpm to 7 gpm.
Nitrate levels range from 1.2 to 3.3 mg/l. This information was obtained from Health
Authority Approval data forms and well logs in the Onsite Water and Wastewater
Program files. A compilation of the data follows:

there is a well site on the proposed Knight Lot 2 with appropriate separation distances
to adjacent septic systems.
In summary, I believe that the proposed Knight S/D, Lot 2 can be served by a private
well, meeting Municipality of Anchorage code requirements.
