Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519 Subject: Lot 25A, Section 15, T12N,R3W Upgrade permit Gentlemen: My firm recently conducted a site visit and soil/percolation tests on the above property in preparation for an upgrade to the existing failed system. A single test pit was dug; results are attached. Based on the test pit results, we are requesting a permit for a three bedroom upgrade. The lot is approximately an acre in size. It is generally fiat; slb'pping to the north at a rate of approximately 2%. The well is located just south of the dwelling, approximately 150 feet away from the proposed system. There is no evidence of auy surface water, including ditch water, within 100' of the proposed installation. Existing wells are located greater than 100 feet from the proposed system. The lot north of the proposed system is developed. It's well is located greater than 200 feet away, and the soil absorption system is approximately 100 feet from the proposed system. ]''he existing absorption field is in failure. The owner requests that the field be left in place. He intends to use both fields, switching ffbm one to the other, after the existing field is allowed to "rest" for a few years. A diversion valve will be placed after the tank to switch flows between the two fields. The proposed field will be located 20 feet from the existing field. This in- vestigation was performed in accordance with the request of b~r. Lou Wood of Glacier Realty on January 31, 1977 and those procedures out- lined in a letter dated July 15, 1977, by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Municipality of Anchorage, Department of Environmental Quality. A single test hole was put down within the subject site area for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with an auger type drill- ing rig and the test hole was extended to a total depth of 20 feet below ground surface. The final log prepared for the test hole t~s been included in Drawing A-01. Groundwater was not encountered in the test hole while drilling. A percolation test was performed from a depth indicated and reflects average infiltration from that depth to 'the bottom of tlhe hole.
