SUBJECT:' Moose Meadows and Gregory Subdivision; 88-088
The Water Quality Section has reviewed the request for rezone and
has the following comments:
- The Moose Meadow S.ubdivision is located in an area designated
as Conservation Wetland by the Anchorage Wetland Management Plan
(AWMP). This wetland serves as critical wildlife and bird
habitat. A channel of Furrow Creek flows through this property.
- As stated in the AWMP, Planned Unit Development may occur on
the "ridges of this wetland, leaving the major portions left
undisturbed to protect open space, wildlife habitat, and drainage
values."
- Large lot-residential districts (R-6) are typically served by
on-site septic systems. This office would request groundwater
and soils information verifying the site suitability for
wastewater disposal before supporting the zoning change to R-6.
