Les, This letter confirms our conversation of 2:30 p.m., October 6, 1980, with regard to the sewer upgrade on Parcel 15D, Section 23, T.12N., R.3W., S.M. Our soils log, attached, shows that we encountered a clean sand, visually rated @ 150 ft2/bedroom at 4.25 feet below the surface. Free water was observed @ 9.5 feet below the surface. We agreed that an adequate system could be obtained by using a shallow absorption ditch, 60 inches wide, with 12 inches of screened rock below the drain tile, intercepting the sand layer, proportioned to 150 square feet per bedroom ( 30 L.F. per bedroom ), with the bottom of the distribution ditch 5.25 feet below the surface. We agreed that in areas where the 5.25 feet depth of trench was inadequate to intercept the sand layer, that all silty soils could be excavated within the 5' ditch until the sand layer was intercepted and that these soils could be replaced with sand similar to that encountered in the test pit from on-site sources. You indicated that the existing crib could also be used as part of the a~sorption system, if the tee on the outfall line was placed sufficiently below the ground elevation over the crib to avoid breaking out of the crib effluent to the surface. We trust the foregoing summarizes our discussion and is sufficient to your needs ~ery tr~yours~ / Civil Engineer 4254-E MUNICIPALITY OF ANCHORAGE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION 825 L.
