Contrary to the statement in your letter, Mr. Clabo was informed that the only way we would become involved in this problem was by your invitation and that the only way a waiver would be considered was through the normal process with us acting on your department recom- mendations. I am confused and concerned by this apparent departure from the long standing policy and procedure we have used. It is not our intent to become unilaterally involved in this issue and would expect the normal procedure to be followed for any waiver you feel would be in order. Stewart: An Inspection of the wa:er and sewer systems serving the subject property was made on ~ove~ber 2&, 1974. The inspection revealed that the distances to the semi-public well are not adequate. The distance Cro~the well to the septictank ls approxt- mt~ly §0' and the dtstance to the mtddle of seepage pit ts 75'. The required distances are 80' fro~ an existing sam1 pbb11¢ well to the septlc tank and 120' from the well to the ~qses~edgd_jL~Of the seepage pit. The water sample taken at the time of the Inspection proved to be unsatis- factory. After the wel~ has been disinfected as discussed tn our telephone conversation of December 3, 1974, the ~ater will have to be resampled. Samples will have to be taken weekly for · ~onth to insure that the well does not become recontamlnated. The well dtstance~ will have to be obtained by either moving the sewer system or relocating the well to be tn compliance with State and Borough laws. To prevent legal action, please notify this office wtthtn 30 days of re- ceipt of this letter ~tth a compliance schedule concerning the relocation of the sewer o~ the well. We will contact the Department of Environmental Quality to obtain a permit as soon as breakup allows a person to actually get into that area. Considering the amount of snow that we have had this year, I don't think that we will be able to dQ much on moving the septic leach tank until about June or July, I will be in contact with you as this develops.
