The Department concurs with your conclusion that~bacteriological and/or chemical contamination of the well is unlikely. Based on this risk analysis the separation distance stipulated in 18 AAC 72.021 has been waived to 88 feet for the distance between the well and septic tank. LOT 129, SEC 33, T12N, R3W Gentlemen; We are resubmitting a request for waivers from the separation distances stated in Title 18, Alaska Administrative Code Chapter 80.020 This submittal follows the format outlined in a Memorandum dated January 3, 1985 on the subject of "Separation Distance Waiver Guidelines for SCRO", prepared by Mr. Bruce Eriekson, District Office Coordinator. State of Alaska, Department of Environmental Conservation. This Memorandum outlines a procedure to be used in the evaluation of waiver requests by assigning number values to geological features addressed in the waiver requesti In this request I have followed this procedure and assigned values to the pertinent features as follows: 1. Vertical Distance Between Sewage System and Ground Water. The well log for this property shows that groundwater encountered at 185 feet. Point value assigned ~ : 7.0 2. Soil Absorption. The well log shows 27 feet of hardpan and 101 feet of clay. Point value assigned 3. Permability: granular material, 4.8 58 feet of The material described in the well rate larger than 50 min/inch. Point value assigned 4. Water Table Gradient. logs has a percolation 3.0 This is a confined aquifer with 60 feet of pressure head. At maximum drawdown the gradient of the water table will be 0%. Septic tank has water tight couplings. Water sample taken during the operation of the system have not shown any contamination. I request that a waiver be issued for this property. IT IS TOO CLOSE TO THE SEPTICiTANK. A WAIVER REQUEST HAS BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT The Municipal requirement for well flow is 150 gallons of water per bedroom per 24 hours.This well surpasses this requirement. The assessment of the condition of this well applies only to the conditions as of this date. The flow rate of the well may change due to subsurface conditions that may not be observed from the surface, and changes in land use and otheri factors that may impact the conditions of the aquifer feeding the well.
