Per MOA memorandum, a septic tank of this age should be physically inspected and/or replaced prior to COSA approval. Based upon this fact, we are proposing to replace the existing septic tank. We are proposing to decommission the existing septic tank per UPC and install a new 1250 -gallon HDPE Greer septic tank. See attached design drawings for tank location and other MOA requirements. An adequacy test was performed at the subject property on 9/9/2022. Per GEG inspection, the testing data is as follows: • Prior to the start of the test, the liquid level in the monitoring tube was 75 inches. • After the introduction of 464 gallons over a period of 405 minutes, the liquid level in the monitoring tube rose 3 inches (total depth of liquid is 78 inches). • After a 120 -minute period, the liquid level in the monitoring tube dropped two (2) inches (total depth of liquid is 76 inches) We are requesting that your department allow the previous testing data to utilized for a 4 -bedroom COSA. Justifications for allowing this are as follows: • Per the testing data, 464 gallons caused a rise of 3 inches of liquid in the monitoring tube • This equates to a rise of 154 gallonsfinch (464 gallons/3 inches = 154). • After a 120 -minute period, the liquid in the monitoring tube dropped two (2) inches, which equates to 308 gallons of absorption over a 120 -minute period. • This equates to an absorption rate greater than 600 gallons/day Per the above calculations, the drainfield exceeds the minimum absorption requirements for a 4 -bedroom home.
