Review
Dear '-~* Corwin:
This is in response to your submittal, received in this office on
November 1, 1990, which included design plans for a wastewater
disposal system to replace the existinq system that has recently
failed. I have reviewed the submitted information and find that
the following information is needed to complete my review.
Verification in the form of results from three falling
head percolation test conducted within the outline of the
proposed soil absorption system to ensure that the silt
found two feet below the lowest part of the proposed soil
absorption system (as noted on the submitted soils log)
does not violate 18 AAC 72.025(b) (D) (ii). All test
results will need to be submitted under your stamp as a
Professional Engineer (P.E.).
The attached forms, Domestic Wast·water System Data Sheet
and Domestic ¢~a,~t~;,~te~ System Owner's Statement, will
need to be completed and returned.
The design drawings will need to be modified to reflect
that monitoring tubes will be installed at all four
corners of the soil absorption bed and resubmitted to
this '~=' '
O~lce for review.
Verification that all State horizontal separation
distances between public and/or private water sources
and the proposed wast·water disposal system can be meet
or the location of the water service line to the facility
will need to be shown on a revised sewer system location
plan submitted to this office.

In closing, if the existing septic tank is less than the needed
1250 gallon capacity and a second tank, in series, is installed,
please ensure ~hat both tanks are single compartment and meets the
Uniform Plumbing Code regarding compartment sizing for septic
tanks.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Review
Dear Mr. Corwin:
This is in response to your submittal, received in this office on
December 27, 1990, which included modified design plans for a
wastewater disposal system to replace the existing system that has
recently failed. I have reviewed ~he submitted information and
this office's file on this project and have the following comments.
~ased on the intended use of the facility and your assumption of
the subsurface soil conditions, as detailed in the submitted data,
it appears that the proposed wastewater disposal system is
adequately sized (1250 gallon, two compartment septic tank and 1200
square feet of absorption area) as noted in your plans.
Therefore, subject to the following requirements, the construction
plans are approved for the concerns of this Department, in
accordance with the provisions of !8 AAC 72, Wastewater Disposal
Regulations.
1. The installation of the wastewater disposal system will
to be monitored by a Professional Engineer (P.E.) will
need to be ;submitted to this office.
Complete as-built drawings of the wastewater disposal
system will need to be submitted to this office under
the stamp of a P.E. The submitted as-built drawings will
need to verify soils, watertabte and impermeable strata
separation, in addition, the wastewater disposal system
will need to have four foot of cover.
Assuming that the percolation test results submitted to
this office on December 27, 1990 were done in the silt
found two feet below the lowest part of the proposed soil
absorption system, it appears that the silt is not an
impermeable strata· However, if the silt does have a
different percolation rate than reported, wastewater will
follow along the contact between the silty
until it ~ither daylights or contaminates an aquifer.
Another possibility is that the ~roposed soil absorption
system will prematurely fail as the existing soil
absorption system.
This approval ,Noes not imply the granting of additional
authorizations, nor obligate any state, federal, or local
regulatory body to grant required authorizations.
~nan~ you for your cooperation with this Department. ~,.~ ~ you have
any questlons, .~[~ao~ do not ~]esltate ~o contact me.
