Re: On-site Sewage Disposal and Water Systems University
Substation, CI-II~GACH ELECTRIC ASSOCIATION INC.
Gentlemen,
Enclosed herewith is a drawing of the proposed on-site sewage system to be
constructed in conjunction with development of the University Substation
facility. The system has been designed to conform with Anchorage Municipal-
ity specifications. Basically the system includes a septic tank and seepage
trench. The design is predicated on a soils test, copy enclosed, which indic
cares subsurface conditions are adequate for this purpose. The design also
takes into consideration final grades resulting from site preparation.
The system will be used for an emergency shower and a toilet located in the
Control Building. No p'ersonnel will be permanently stationed at the facility.
Thus the sewage and water systems ,will be used on an intermittent basis by
maintenance personnel.
The p~oposed well has been positioned northwest of the seepage pit a minie
m~tm distericeLofi'lZS~feet,: as indicated on the Plot Plan. Ground elevation at
the well site , prior to and following site grading, will be higher than that of
the seepage trench area. In both cases drainage is tO the West. Furthermore,
the trench and well site are separated by a natural berm of break in relief.
It is intended that well construction shall conform to applicable sections of
the Anchorage Municipality Ordinance O1{-75-58 as pertains to drilled wells,
Well construction shall also comply with applicable sections of the proposed
regulations of the Alaska Department of Enviormental' Conservation pertaining
Anchorage Municipality

to "SOURCE AND SOURCE PROTECTION" and "SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS.".
However in this regard we do request the system be considered semi-public
as it will only be available to company personnel and subject to infrequent
use. Further we also request a waiver of the distance:'requirement between
the well and seepage trench to allow the indicated minimum separation of
125 feet. The reason for this is to keep the well out of the way of other
planned facilities and in a location providing ease of installation and later
maintenance.
For your review we have also enclosed copies of drawings E-Z,:, E-6, and
a legal description. The drawings depict overall site preparation and details
of the Control Building. Please let us know if you have any further qu'estions
or require additional information.
Yours truly,
