Test Performed BY Wo FoAttwood Date Certified BY: ALASKA MINERAL & MATERIALS LAB Date: GREATER ANCHORAGE AREA BOROUGH Department of Environmental Quality MEMORANDUM November ll, 1974 TO: Record FROM: Robert P. Neale ~' - ' Environmental Control Officer C~i}~ On October 22, 1974, I took a soil sample from within the seepage pit on lot 8, Block l, Talus West Subdivision. The purpose of the ramdom sample was to confirm the accuracy of a 170 sq. ft. average soil sample taken by the Alaska Mineral Lab, on the proceeding day. The soil in this subdivision had been observed by myself and Rolf Strickland to be of extremely poor perculation quality. I delivered the sample to the G.A.A.B. soils lab at Bering Street. The soil sample had been taken at the 3' to 5' - 5' to 7' and 7' to 13' levels, results of a sieve analysis ( copies enclosed) showed the upper level (3' - 5' ) to be 250 sq. ft. and over. The second level (5' to 7') proved to be 300 sq. ft. and the third level came in at 275 sq. ft. to 350 sq. ft. per bedroom. Each layer was distinct and seperate in the seepage pit and past our 250 sq. ft. cutoff for acceptability. This lot was under construction by Candee Construction Company and the system was redesigned to have 90' drainage ditch rather than a seepage pit. More samples are being taken on other systems with doubtful soil sample accuracy.
