The surrounding lots are large, allowing sufficient room for septic sites. 2. Immediate neighboring septic systems are all +30' distance. 3. Reserve space is adequate, due to absorption capacity. 4. Drainage will not be affected and is not a major consideration in our design. If you have any questions please call our office at 694-5195. Y; A Reference: Septic Adequacy Test Explanation for T15N, R1 W, Section 19, Lot 14 To whom it may concern: The existing septic system on the referenced property consists of a 1,5000 -gallon steel tank and a deep trench drainfield that is 60 feet long by 3 feet wide with 8 feet of effective (96"). According to the homeowner questionnaire that the owner completed, the house has been vacant since 3/17/2019. According to the pumping receipt, the septic tank was pumped on June 11, 2020. During our initial site visit on 9/2/2020, we noted the septic tank was working at normal level and there was 52.25" of standing liquid in the west monitoring tube (MTI) and 51.75" of standing liquid in the east monitoring tube (MT2). We also noted a small amount of water was dribbling in the bottom of one of the sewer lines exiting the house. This may be due to a toilet flapper not sealing correctly or some other internal plumbing leak. Based upon an email from the owner's representative, the most recent usage on the septic system was during the Spring of 2020, but no usage was mentioned after the June 11, 2020 septic pumping. In short, the plumbing leak appears to be significant enough to fill the 1,500 -gallon septic tank and possibly influence the liquid level in the drainfield. As required by the MOA (for a vacant residence), we performed a presoak on the drainfield. On 9/2/2020, we added a total of 1,787 gallon of water to the drainfield which brought the liquid level in the drainfield to the invert of the cleanouts (97.25" in 'MT1 and 97" in MT2). On 9/3/2020, we returned to the property and found the liquid depth of the drainfield to be at 86.25" in MT1 and 86" in MT2. We then added an additional 723 gallons to the drainfield, which brought the liquid level in the drainfield to the top of the distribution line (filled to 100% capacity with 101" in MT1 and 100.75" in MT2 — 4" of standing liquid in both cleanouts). After stopping the introduction of water to the drainfield, the system was allowed to recover for 310 minutes during which time the liquid levels dropped to 96.25" in MTI and 96" in MT2. We performed a second recovery reading the following day (914/20), 3701 East Tudor Road, Suite 101 * Anchorage, Alaska 99507-1259 Phone: (907) 337-6179 * Fax: (907) 338-3246 * Website: www.garnessengineering.com Page 2 of 2 1162 minutes after water was stopped being introduced, and found the liquid depth in the drainfield to be 89.5" in MT1 and 89" in MT2. Based upon our calculations and some other readings taken during the septic test,. we calculated that the system marginally absorbs 750 gpd, as required for a 5 -bedroom residence. We would also like to note that the septic system may be approaching the end of its useful life expectancy due to the age of the steel septic tank and the marginally passing results for the drainfield. It is our recommendation that the MOA issue an advisory notice. Please do not hesitate to call us at 337-6179 if you require further information. Thank you for your assistance.
