The above referenced property has recently been issued a permit for a well and septic system. The well has been drilled and construction of the home is mostly complete. At the owner's request we have been asked to re-design the system to eliminate the step tank and relocate the leachfield. On 5/3/17 Test hole-cm was excavated to a depth of approximately 8 feet. Groundwater was encountered at a depth of approximately 6' and measured at 5.5' on 5/5/17. Groundwater will be monitored 7 days prior to construction. A percolation test was conducted at the new testhole. Note that groundwater monitoring at Test hole 1B showed a groundwater depth of approximately 3.5'. We are requesting a change order to relocate the drainfield as shown on the plan, install a conventional 1000 gallon steel septic tank instead of the STEP tank. The original leachfield location will be used as a reserve site. Included with this letter are design drawings, calculations and soil logs. Upon preparation of the COSA documents, it was found that the well encroached on the animal containment area on the adjacent lot. We are requesting a waiver for reduced separation between the well and the horse corral, to a distance of 41'. The animal containment area is large and the area of conflict is relatively small, reducing the likelihood of animal excrement occurring in the waiver area.
