Box 102954 Anchorage, Alaska, 99510 (90?) 27~-8218 Subject: Lot 9A, Block I Knik Heights Subdivision Septic Upgrade Permit FAILED SYSTEM Gentlemen: My firm was contacted to investigate a failed septic system serving this lot. The system was completely inundated with liquid. I informed the owners that the system was in failure. The owners requested my firm investigate the possibility of installing a replacement. A single test hole was excavated on September 27, 2001. The soils report and percolation test result is attached. Ground water was monitored for over seven days. No groundwater or bedrock was encountered in the test hole. The lot is approximately 0.92 acres in size. Lot 9A slopes to the southwest at approximately 1 to 2 percent, with the western end dropping off steeply at 10 to 15%. The owner would like to upgrade to a four-bedroom system. The existing crib will be expanded to four bedrooms by adding a 25-foot long trench to the crib. The proposed primary field installation will be located in the eastern portion of the lot. The existing fields will be reused as mentioned above. The septic tank will be replaced with a new 1250 gallon septic tank during the installation. The proposed location is greater than 100 feet away from the existing well serving this property and 25 feet from the water service lines. The surrounding wells are located greater than 100 feet from the proposed installation. The proposed installation will not affect the future development of the surrounding or existing lots.
