The proposed system will serve a 5-bedroom house. Soil logs, design calculations, site plan and design drawings are enclosed for your review. Soils. A test hole was dug near the house as shown on the plan view during the month of May 2022. Attempts were made to dig the hole deeper but every scoop pulled out caused the test hole to cave in more. Previously on this property a test hole was dug to 13'. The soils described in that hole match what was found in the present test hole. Majestic Valley Estates Block 3 Lot 1- A test hole was dug to the east of the subject lot in June to a depth of L7'. Groundwater was discovered at 15.5'in the month of June. Majestic Valley Estates Block 3 Lot 3 - A test hole was dug to the west of the subject lot in June to a depth of L4' . Groundwater was discovered at 12.5'. I request that the depth of these test holes be used to establish depth from impermeable layers in order to construct a deeper trench. The most restrictive test hole on lot 3 will be used. For the month of June, the adjusted groundwater elevation is 11.5'. Soil Absorption System Design. See Sheet L ofthe design package. Wells. This and neighboring properties are served by private water wells. The inspection report from 1980 reports that the septic tank is 95' from the water well. All neighboring water wells are > 100' from the subject property septic system. The ground level at the water well is at higher elevation than the septic tank on the subject property. Should sewage overflow the septic tank, it would drain downhill away from the well casing.Thissteelseptictankand field have been in place since 1980.The newseptictankwillbe plastic and will be an improvement to the existing septic tank. Nitrate concentration was tested in May 2022aI below measurable level. The existing septic tank has been in place for more than 40 years and has not had an adverse affect on the water quality. The new septic tank will be a further improvement. For the above reasons, we request that the waiver be updated for the new septic tank location. The proposed installation will not affect the future development of this or the surrounding lots. The proposed drain field upgrade will maintain at least 100 feet from all surface water and drainage ditches. Topography: This property slopes downhill towards the southwest. In the area where the trench is to be placed the slope is22%. The criteria of 15.65.210 B.1.d can't be met, as the field draining the house is less than 50' up-gradient from the 30% slope. The 'steep slope' provisions of this code will apply. Construction of the septic system will meet allthe conditions of 15.65.210 B.4.a i, ii, iv. 15.65.210 B.4.a iii will apply to this case and all existing vegetation on the 22% and 30% slopes will remain intact. The slopes will not be disturbed. 15.65.210 B.4.a.v The disposal field is greater than 100' up-gradient from any 46% slope. As shown on sheet 2 of the design package, a line of 46% slope starting at2.5' above the invert of the perforated pipe does not daylight the existing ground for at least 35'. The well logs in this area show that there is no bedrock till at least a depth of 100'. The soils in this area have a percolation rate of 4.7 mpi.
