The proposed system will serve a 5-bedroom single-family residence. The existing system is over 19 years old and no longer meets COSA operational requirements. Soil logs, design calculations, a site plan, design drawings and construction specifications are enclosed for your review. Design Calcs: Groundwater observed at a depth of l O. 5 feet below ground surface (8/23/2010) Soil Rating (w/ A WWT) : From Test hole 8/5/2010 3 min/in = 4 galper sq:ft/day (TH#2) No. of Bedrooms 5 Required Area per Bedroom: 150/4:3 7.5 sq.fi. Minimum area required: 37.5 x 5 = 187.5 sq.fi Depth of Rock 36 inches. Reduction factor O. 58 Minimum Trench Length 187.5/5'0.58=21.75feet System: We are proposing a 1000 gallon septic tank with a BioCycle advanced wastewater treatment system, and a shallow trench absorption field. The absorption field will be 30 feet long and 5 feet wide with 3 feet (259 sq.ft, effective) of sewer rock. Soils: Two test holes were excavated on August 5th, 2010. See the attached soil logs. Gravelly silty soils were observed. Ground water was monitored for through August 23, 2010. Ground water was observed 10.5 feet below the ground surface. Environmental Consulting and Design I Surface Water: There are no surface waters within one hundred feet of the proposed septic system upgrade. Topography: The lot slopes steeply to the south. Areas of the lot have been terraced to allow for a house and driveway. A bench on the east end of the property with a slope of approximately 20 % is proposed for the location of the drain field. A cut bank exists along Imperial Drive. The slope of the cut bank is 65%. Waivers: A slope waiver will be required. See drawing 4/4. The installation of this septic system will not prevent wells and septic systems from being installed on the adjacent lots. The proposed septic system will not change the general slope of the area.
