Health & Human Services By means of this letter we m'e requesting pre-construction approval of the following design changes affecting Pe~rnit No. SW910126 for LOt 1, Block 6, Mountainside Village #1. Copies of revised design drawings and specifications are enclosed. 1. Building siting considerations have resulted in the elevation of the waste line as it exits the building in being too low to allow gravity flow to the proposed soil absorption ch'ainfields. Since site considerations make it impossible to relocate or lower the proposed ch'ainfields, we have had to incorporate a lift station into the design. We propose to install an "Orenco" lift station package in the second compm'tment of a 1500 gallon septic tank at the location shown on the revised site plan to serve this 4 bech'oom residence. 2. The incorporation of a lift station enables the soil absorption drainfields to be fed by means of a pressurized distribution system, which should enhance the longevity by promoting even disn*ibution into both drainfields simultaneously. The specified perforation patterns m'e based on the 3/16" holes in the upper pipe passing 0.59 gpm each with a 2 foot residual head, at the same time that the 5/32" holes in the lower pipe will pass 0.64 gpm each with a 5 foot residual head for a design flow of 32 gpm. ANCHORAGE, ALaiS KA,, ~g~16 Dear Ms. Oswald: This letter provides a response to the concerns you expressed on the pink transmittal sheet dated 5/8/91 regarding the requested on-site well and septic permit for Lot 1, Block 6, Mountainside Village S/D, Addn. #1. We are retm'ning out' application which includes a revised site plan and design &'awings reflecting the presently planned configm'afion of the systems. The following responses m'e in the order of the pink sheet comments. 1. As we discussed and agreed with you at the time of om' mutual site visit on May 17, we have reconfigured the designated replacement drainfields to be just above and just below the original ch'ainfields. This brings them also into close proximity of test holes #1 and #2, such that the soil logs for these test holes are also applicable to the future replacement &-ainfields. As we discussed, the lower edge of the lower replacement drainfield will be 40 feet uphill from the cutbank beside Mountain Drive. This is less than the 50 feet specified in the wastewater ordinance, however it should provide sufficient separation to prevent daylighfing of effluent. As you will recall, at the time of out' mutual site visit we discussed the construction of a proposed driveway in this area, and the need to avoid creating a new cutbank closer to the drainfields. To comoletelv eliminate any potential problems with respect to this issue, the owners have .C~,/c~ now dec, tied' to t econfi' g~ute' tl~e driveway as ·shown on the new site plan. 2 We have added cleanouts at each end of each trench segment pet' your reques[. . than requh'ed by an application rate of 0.8 gpd/sq, ft. I believe that you concurred that these application rates do comply with the requirements of the wastewater ordinance. 4. As presently envisioned, the replacement ch'ainfields will be identical in configuration to the original ch'ainfields, so the profile for the original ch'ainfields will also apply to the replacement ch'ainfields. The owners wish to have theh' well drilled this week before the chiller goes out of town, so we would appreciate your expediting issuance of the requested pemait.
