Street, Suite 502 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 April 13, 1999 RE: Lot 16, Block 7, Paradise Valley Subdivision Dear Mr. Cross: On March 25, 1999, I performed an adequacy test on the sewer system serving the referenced property. The test revealed that it was unable to accept a minimum quantity of flow without a significant rise in liquid levels outside the operational limits of the system. The owners, Mr. & Mrs. Terry Dannenbring, are now proceeding with an upgrade of this system. A testhole was dug, the soils logged and a percolation test performed. A monitor tube was installed and this afternoon, the site revisited to check on a possible watertable; no water was encountered. The testhole log and percolation test results are attached. A design for the replacement drainfield is also attached. My design specifies a "Deep Trench" system 32' long with an effective depth of 9', providing 576 sf of absorption area. The new drainfield will be located approximately 20' to the West of the existing one and will be connected to the existing septic tank. The MOA specifications for materials, cleanouts and monitor tubes will be utilized for this installation. A design drawing is attached. Groundslopes in the area of the replacement system, as shown on the testhole log, are slight to moderate, presenting no problems to the installation of the system, as proposed. Adjacent lots were inspected for possible impacts or conflicts with the replacement drainfield. None were found. The proposed system is located outside the minimum protective radius of any existing well, including the well serving this property. It should be noted that the septic tank is located within the protective radius of the well which serves the single family residence on the adjacent Lot 17. The owners have stated that this well was drilled after their sewer system was installed and a cursory review of MOA records, indicates that a waiver(s) has been issued for Lot 17. Unless inspection of the septic tank reveals a problem with it's structural integrity, it is planned to leave the tank in place. The owners are trying to sell their property and are anxious to complete the upgrade of this system. Your prompt attention to this proposed upgrade would be appreciated. The owners have completed a permit application and provided the appropriate fee, both of which are attached. Please give me a call if you have any questions in regards to this submittal. July 22, 1986 To: Mr. Terry Dannenbring 6131 Austria Anchorage, Alaska 99516 Ref: Lot 16, Block 7 Paradise Valley Subdivision Dear Mr. Dannenbring, At your request, I performed an Adequacy Test on the existing septic system for the three bedroom residence at the above referenced location. According to the Greater Anchorage Area Borough's Inspection report for installation of On-Site Sewage Disposal Systems at this location (8/26/82), your system consists of a I000 gallon steel tank and 73 lineal feet of trench. Upon arriving at the property on July 22, 1986, I observed the septic system and recorded the static water levels. Water was then introduced to the system at approximately 7.5 gallons per minute. The sump at the west end of the trench was monitored for the test. The water levels were periodically measured and recorded with respect to time during the filling and subsequent absorbing period. The absorption rate was extrapolated according to Dr. leroy Reids paper, "In Situ Testing of On-Site Sewer Systems," September, 1982. The septic system was in normal use before and after the test. Water was introduced to the system at 7.5 gallons per minute. I futher certify that the well sustained a yield of 7.5 gpm for a period of time in excess of three hours without showing any signs of stress.
