This investigation was performed Jn accordance with your request a~ October 16, 1972 and those procedures outlined Jn a letter dated September 13, 1971 by Mr. Rol~ Strickland o~ the Greater Anchor- age Area Borough Department o~ Env~ronrnental Quality. A single test hole was put down within the Lot 1I area J~or the purpose o~ deJSning general subsurface so~l conditions ~or the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with a tractor-mounted backhoe and t he test hole was extended to a total depth o~ 12 ~eet below ground surface. The ~Jnal log prepared J~or the test hole has been included in Drawing A-01: Ground water wasn't encountered Jn the test hole. We appreciate being given this opportunity to ~e o~ service to you. Dear Mr. Leon; With reference to the letter from the Municipal Departmenmt of Health and Enviromental Protection dated April 24, 1984, where the Department requested verification of the septic tank size and type on your lot, I measured the tank on this date. Your tank is a Espinoza 1250 gal concrete septic tank, which may have been compartmentized by the installer in 1966. The standpipe is located at the approximate middle of the tank, giving access to the second compartment. There should be a manhole access to the tank on the inflow side, the side closed to your house. ~ r_e. commend that you expose this access and remove it and c~_e_a~ that compartment of the tank. After 20 years of operation(I suspect)that this compartment is full of sludge. There is nothing wrong with your tank, with the exception of a large accumulation of sludge in the first compartment. By cleaning that compartment the tank should be good for another 20 years. Dear Mr. Melbo: I recently inspected your sewer system and well for the Veteran's Administration. I can't approve your well because it is only 85 feel from the seepage system. In order to get the Veteran's Administration approval ~ou will have to move your seepage pit (edge of excavation) at least 100 feet fron~ the well.
